Sir Barton
In 1919 he started his three-year-old season out big with the Kentucky Derby. He was entered by his owner (John K.L. Ross) to serve as a rabbit for Ross’ paddock star, one Billy Kelly.
Sir Barton did not follow the plan.
Sir Barton finished a stunning five lengths ahead of field to claim the Derby title for himself.
He went on to become the first Triple Crown winner and thus, a legend…
