FAST FACTS:

  • At a Christie’s auction in 2007, a bottle of Macallan made in 1926 sold for $54,000.
  • The Easter Elchies House on the distillery’s grounds, which is pictured on the Macallan label and was the home of the brand’s founder, was built in 1700.
  • Not only is there a store at the distillery, which stocks special bottling, but also a large interactive exhibit that explains the whisky production process.
