I was completely amazed at what a group of dedicated and organized guys can do in one day.
What they did in an afternoon took me a year to do, of course, I was working by myself, but still…
Álvaro Bautista was involved in a four rider crash on the first corner at the Valencia Grand Prix that wiped out his chances of a successful end to the season for the Rizla Suzuki team, and likely led to his being dropped from the team.
Bautista had looked solid as intermittent rain fell on the track leading up to the race, and after starting from fifth on the grid, Bautista got away fast and into the lead at the first corner. When his front wheel was accidentally touched by Andrea Dovizioso, the Spaniard lost control and slid into Valentino Rossi, Nicky Hayden and Randy de Puniet which left those four riders stranded in the gravel trap out of the race.
“Rizla Suzuki and Álvaro Bautista didn’t achieve the results we could, or should, have done in the latter part of the season, but I hope we’ve shown a lot of fighting spirit and a huge amount of performance potential,” said Rizla Team Manager, Paul Denning. “I’d like to thank Álvaro and the whole team for their consistent professionalism and enthusiasm.”
