Chet Baker
Baker.
In 1966, Chet Baker was beaten during a drug buy turned ugly after performing at The Trident restaurant in Sausalito.
Baker received cuts and, as some of his teeth were knocked out, his embouchure was ruined which left him unable to play his trumpet.
He worked at a gas station until he fought back and found his way once again to music...
Early during May 13, 1988, Baker was found dead on the street below his hotel room in Amsterdam after falling from a second floor window.
Heroin and cocaine were found in that room - and later in his post-mortem toxicology report. There was no evidence of a struggle. His death was ruled an accident.

The jazz great is buried at the Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, California next to his father.
