Latest Version of the Confederate Hellcat Motorcycle Ready To Roll
They’re not just a thing, these motorcycles, they’re a beautiful and very fast thing.
To achieve beauty, at least in my estimation, a thing must have utility, a pleasing form – and obvious intention and statement by whoever designed the machine. Anything can be beautiful, but some things are just more appealing than others.
Enter the Confederate Hellcat X132. Yeah, it’s a plaything for the appallingly wealthy, but it’s also a magnificent piece of engineering and design and there can never be enough of those in the world.

Confederate Motors, Inc. rolled out their third generation Hellcat today, and while it does draw on the first and second generations’ distinctive drag race architecture, the new X132 Hellcat advances that architecture with innovative engineering and avant-garde design.
The result? Another tour-de-force of design and function.
Company founder and CEO, H. Matthew Chambers, thinks he’s hit the sweet spot with this version.
“This is the motorcycle we were conceived to execute when I founded the company 21 years ago,” Chambers said. “I have every confidence that we have delivered all we ever dreamed of giving.”
Named for the F6F Hellcat fighter plane of WWII, the X132 Hellcat is wrapped around the Hellcat’s billet aluminum case. Instead of being cast, the Hellcat’s case is machined from two blocks of billet 6061 aircraft grade aluminum. It’s that little piece of work which, while is makes the bike an awesome piece of design and provided the bike’s signature look, also makes it hellaciously expensive.
“This new case unites America’s best Vtwin technology and America’s superior powertrain technology into a singularity,” Chambers said. “Although this is the most expensive material selection and craft methodology, it is simply the best approach for maximizing strength and guaranteeing permanence.”
Confederate’s lead designer, the amazing Ed Jacobs, says he’s finally reached the apex of his ideas with the X 132.
“We’ve always dreamed of designing the core of the machine. For the first time in our 21 year history, we’ve been able to do that with the unitized case of this new Hellcat, Jacobs said. “The result is the first pure and undiluted Confederate.”
The innovation doesn’t end there.
“Because we design and craft each Confederate motorcycle to be a multi-generational heirloom product, we require that each component, from the carbon fiber wheels to the smallest stainless steel bolts, be of the highest quality, no matter the cost. Our clients deserve nothing less,” said Clay Morrison, the company’s Director of Marketing.
They’ve already pre-sold 40 of these bikes, which does beg the question of how much money is there out in the world, and Confederate says they’ll begin production in January at a rate of two units per week.
Pricing for the X132 Hellcat?
