Hoosier State To Host American Iron Event

It’s going to be a long, icy winter here in the Midwest and if you love motorcycles, the enormous piles of snow and  nearly impassable roads will keep you off your bike.

You do have a few options, though. You can lock yourself away in a chilly garage and work on a project bike, or you can pack up the truck and head out to visit the motorcycle show circuit.

Here’s a recommendation, during the horrors of February, take a trip down Indiana way for Buzz Kanter’s show in Indianapolis.

American Iron magazine has taken the plunge and says it will sponsor The Ultimate Dealer Bike Show, a dealer-only custom bike show to be held at the American V-Twin Dealer Show Feb. 17-19 in Indianapolis.

The show is co-located with the 2012 Dealer Expo, held at the Indiana Convention Center. The bike show will be known as The Ultimate Dealer Bike Show presented by American Iron Magazine.

“We are excited to be a part of this inaugural event, and to let the dealers showcase their skills and creativity in our pages,” said American Iron Magazine publisher and editor-in-chief Buzz Kanter. “It’s going to be a lot of fun for the builders, show attendees and our readers, making this a win-win for both organizations.”

“American Iron Magazine brings extensive industry expertise to the project, making them the perfect media partner for this type of custom bike show,” said Grady Pfeiffer  of the American V-Twin Dealer Show. “Participants will enjoy added exposure in the well-read American Iron Magazine, on their website, and through their social media outlets, which will really increase awareness for this first-time event. We are confident this will develop into a long term relationship and continue to grow for years to come.”

The Ultimate Dealer Bike Show presented by American Iron Magazine features a four class format.

Entries are limited; interested dealers should call Bob Kay at 919-886-5075 for more details.

Insuring your collectible or vintage motorcycle

As for insurance? You should be able to get Agreed Value coverage on a 1959 BSA valued at $15,000 for somewhere around $25 a month, and that gives you the whole shooting match of coverage. You can spend a lot less, but if you plan to ride the bikes in your collection, the above pricing is a reasonable approximation of what you can expect to pay.
