After leaking a series of pictures featuring disguised test examples of Ducati’s new superbike, the 1199 Panigale, the iconic maker of stylish Italian motorcycles has decided to give the mechanical geeks among us a treat with this video clip of the long-awaited motorcycle’s engine.
It’s not so much that the video is some kind of artistic masterpiece, but rather the actual meat-and-potatoes content you get.
The video provides a detailed inside look at the technology behind the company’s completely new engine, and the boys from Borgo Panigale explains why was the drastic shift from their tradition was needed.
The wet weight and brake horsepower, 195 Hp for the 1199 Panigale and 395 lbs weight, makes good on the marque’s promise to trump its predecessor by over 20hp and 20 lbs. The 1199 Panigale’s very over-square Superquadrata motor (also known as the SuperQuadro), will rev higher than any other previous Ducati Superbike motor to-date, and the company is counting on their new “frameless” chassis design to startle customers as well.
