Tim Rhotig Burns A Strip Down the Middle of the Nurburgring on a Kawasaki ZX-10R

If you have a few minutes this morning to see how the other half lives, you owe it to yourself to check this out.

You have the unique opportunity to watch a lap from an on board camera while Nurburgring expert Tim Rhotig takes an incredibly fast lap.

What makes watching this lap so cool is how it was captured. Rhotig and his team use a camera developed by DORNA for MotoGP use which utilizes gyroscopes and special mounts to keep the camera level as the bike tours the Ring. Mounted right below the rider’s chest, the whole rig is about the same size as a tank bag.

Rothig – on a Kawasaki ZX-10R – was out doing some tire testing  for Bridgestone  as he makes this breathtaking lap of the 13-mile-long Nordschleife course, and it’s the position of the camera that reveals the way Rothig approaches lines, braking points and apexes. As an added bonus, you get some thoroughly insane wheelies as Rothig cranks it on down the straights and coming out of the turns.

This video should give you some hint at how fast and with what precision professional riders can turn a bike.

With no protection if you lose control of the bike- straight off into the woods. Got to admire that set of cojones

Awesome video with great perspective on speed, lean angle, bike movement. It certainly takes balls and skills to go that fast, that smoothly, on that track with no runoff
